WineFestivalCC

The Decatur Wine Festival is fast approaching and tickets are selling fast! You may want to get yours now.

Thanks to the hard work of Herb Chereck at Decatur Package Store, there will be over 350 wines available for tasting.  Price of admission includes a commemorative wine glass, food sampling from local restaurants and great musical entertainment. Ernie Quarles and Shaun Anderson kick off the day with some great soul and R&B, followed by the Heaven Davis Band.

The Wine Festival is a fund raiser for the Decatur Arts Alliance, which offers the Decatur Arts Festival free to the community every Memorial Day weekend.

Hope to see you at the festival. This is one of my favorites!

I plan on bringing a piece to hang on the clothesline – this is always a very fun event. Nice to mingle with the artists and talk to them about their art. After viewing the artwork, walk up the stairs to Eddie’s Attic for some great music and a beverage.

See you on the Square!

People's Choice Award Winner

People's Choice Award Winner

The Decatur Arts Festival closed the Fine Arts Exhibition on Sunday with the “Last Call” event. Artists from the show were present to talk about their work and a variety of community members attended. Each year, a People’s Choice Award is given to a piece of art that is voted on by visitors throughout the run of the show. This year the award was given to Michael Klapthor for his sculpture “A Beast Submits”. If you missed the show, you are in luck as the piece will be on display at By Hand South for the month of June.

If you have never been to By Hand South on Ponce, you are in for a treat. They have a great selection of hand made art in a wide variety of media. I especially love the unique jewelry pieces. You may want to pick up a Father’s Day gift while you are there.
