Worthmore Jewelers is excited to announce “The Trail to Happiness”, their first juried exhibition in partnership with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. The exhibition will kick off with an Opening Reception on Saturday, October 3rd from 5 until 8 pm in the Decatur Store. You will have an opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy hors d’oeuvres as well as their signature rum punch. If you can’t get by for the opening, the show runs through November 6.

The Decatur High School Band program is holding a massive yard sale this Saturday, 3 October from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. at Intown Ace Hardware on Scott Blvd. Don’t miss this opportunity to find some great deals AND help our talented world-traveling marching band raise some much needed funds for the band, drill team, and color guard! The DHS Band Booster Yard Sale will be held in conjunction with the Intown Ace Hardware Annual Yard Sale at 1404 Scott Blvd with their generous sponsorship.

On Sunday, October 4th, from 2 until 6 pm, it is time for Dogtoberfest at the Solarium in Oakhurst. The event is sponsored by local businesses to benefit improvements to the Oakhurst Dog Park. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for food, beverages and Dogtoberfest activities.

Mingei World Arts is ready for the Day of the Dead with monarch butterfly skeletons, winged devils, skulls hinged and magnetized, molds for sugar skulls, cards, and much more. Stop by the store this weekend to get into the spirit of the Day of the Dead celebration that honors and remembers those who have passed.
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Chicks at Kaleidoscope Boutique are donating $10 from every pair of jeans sold in October to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Decatur Active Living staff and parent volunteers will be out that morning at Clairemont, Oakhurst and Winnona Park elementary schools and Glennwood Academy with healthy snacks for students and coffee for parents.

Saturday’s Concert on the Square features Australian Based singer Geoff Achison. The Concert runs from 7 until 9:30 pm. Stop by one of our many restaurants before the Concert or order your meal to go to enjoy on the lawn of the Old Courthouse Square. Free.
The Decatur Cooperative Ministry presents the 14th Annual Garden of Eatin’ on Saturday from 4 until 7 pm at the Holiday Inn Conference Center. Taste food from over 20 local reataurants. Tickets are $20 per person and proceeds from the event benefit the DCM. For information
The Artists at Beacon Hill Studios invite the community to their 4th Annual Studio Tour on Friday, September 25 from 5 until 9 pm and on Saturday, September 26 from 3 until 7 pm. The event will also include outdoor sculpture in the open courtyard and sculptural welding demos, as well as music performed throughout the evening. The Tour is a special benefit for the Decatur High School Arts Program and 20% of any artwork sole will be donated to them. Suggested donation at the door is $5.
We are proud to announce that our blog has achieved the marker of having over 50,000 views! It has been fun working on the blog, considering a couple of years ago I didn’t even know what a blog was. From the stately and formal to the artsy and whimsical and everything in between, the tour blooms with ideas to feed gardening inspiration year round. Works by local artists will also be displayed. The Saturday evening tour will feature the Oakhurst Community Garden and a wonderful modern garden with a pool.
You may have heard Ernie and Shaun play at the Decatur Wine Festival. They have played at this event for all four years of the festival, and will play again this year.
