Makers

Decatur Makers is hosting a Maker & Artist Market to celebrate all the cool and creative hand-made making that comes from the Atlanta community!

The Market will be this Saturday, November 11, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., rain or shine. The address is 605 W. Ponce de Leon Ave, in the parking lot behind the First Christian Church (across the street from the Decatur post office).

Currently there are about 30 vendors who will be selling hand-made products including candy and treats, jewelry and beads, clothing and accessories, candles, wreaths, stained glass, paintings, skincare, soaps, baskets, charms, quilts, cutting boards and cheese boards, and so much more.

There will also be stone carving, animatronic puppetry making, and jewelry making demos. And bring the kids as they can get hands on and DIY their own buttons and cool masks.

Fun for the whole family!

For more information, check out the Facebook event and the event webpage.

Jump-start your holiday spirit – and shopping! – by going local in the city of Decatur.

butter-and-cream

Start the season off with something sweet! Visit Butter and Cream on Church Street for handcrafted hometown ice creams, sorbets, and sundaes. You’ll find classic childhood favorites – think butter pecan and mint chocolate chip – as well as fanciful flavors like Cardamom Honey and Campfire Chocolate. Their menu changes seasonally and holiday taste sensations are on the way! When the nights get too cold for ice cream (Never!) cozy up with a cup of cocoa instead – complete with homemade and oh-so-fluffy marshmallows. Keep their cookies and candies in mind for hostess gifts, teachers’ presents, and stocking stuffers, too! Or stash them all for yourself… We won’t judge.

As part of this year’s Artwalk, Trinity will feature the artwork of two local creative scientists-turned artists, Jim Ingles & Dean Jones. Jim uses the world as his canvas creating non-objective abstracts, mono-prints & plein air landscapes. Dean’s impressionistic style is in great contrast from his scientific background and features acrylic serene seascapes and fresh fields of North Georgia.
