Terrific Thursdays continue tonight in Decatur! Not only can you find bargains and refreshments while shopping locally, but you can enjoy the new lights around the Square while riding the Pedicab. Wow- was there enough information in that sentence?

Seriously, tonight (and every Thursday through December 17) is the night you will want to shop Decatur. Businesses and restaurants are staying open late and offering discounts or refreshments, or both. We have also hired the Pedicab to transport you and your packages from place to place. One of the things I love the most about all the festivals we have in Decatur is how everyone in the community gets involved. A number of businesses this weekend are having special discounts, mini-events and offers to help celebrate the holiday and Decatur Book Festival weekend.

I’ll be updating this post for the next two days as I get updates from other local businesses.

Ann VanSlyke is owner of Mingei World Arts, which is selling the collectible woodcarvings by various artists featuring different figures reading books

Mingei just got a new order of reading figures from La Union. They’re really popular and I’m sure with over 50,000 literary fans shopping around town this weekend, the figures will be going fast. Also make sure to check out the recycled Decatur banner bags on sale.
