You are invited to the Second Sunday Strolls this Sunday, July 12, at 2:30 p.m. in Decatur Cemetery. This 30-45 minute historic walk is led by volunteer and Cemetery expert Cathy Vogel. Whether this is your first visit or your 30th, you’ll learn something you didn’t know about metro Atlanta’s oldest public burial space. Meet at the well house gazebo off of Commerce Drive.
There is quite a bit of history and interesting sites at the Cemetery, so grab your walking shoes and join the stroll!
If you can’t make this Sunday’s walk, the remaining dates for 2009 are August 9, September 13, and October 11.
Sponsored by the Friends of Decatur Cemetery, a project of the Decatur Preservation Alliance.

Worthmore Jewelers in Decatur will make a special art presentation to Mayor Floyd at the Decatur Beach Party. Worthmore Jewelers just celebrated their one year anniversary in Decatur and wanted to thank the city, the community, and the Mayor for their great efforts in making Decatur the best place to live and own a business. Worthmore Jewelers and Decatur Artist Kim Wolfe will be presenting Mayor Floyd with Kim’s latest work titled “Decatur City Limits” at the Decatur Bandstand at 7:15 p.m.

Mix 1 part sunscreen with 1 part beach ball and 2 parts hot dogs. Add one pair of giant scissors, and what do you have? The Glenlake Pool ribbon cutting ceremony of course. The City of Decatur ordered up perfect weather for the re-opening ceremony this past Friday as City Commissioners Mary Alice Kemp and Kecia Cunningham cut the ribbon and welcomed the first guests into the newly renovated poolhouse. So began the never-ending debate over who was the first to jump in the pool. I heard more than a few children claim the title, but alas, the world may never know the truth. Check out the great pictures below.
