City of Decatur Impact Fee Program Study Advisory Committee Meeting

The City of Decatur is currently conducting an impact fee study that will establish an Impact Fee Program including fees for the City to use in 2021. The community is invited to attend the Advisory Committee virtual Kick Off Meeting on Friday, Nov. 13 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. The meeting agenda will include an explanation of impact fees, review of the study process, schedule of events and committee’s role in the study and conclude with a question & answer session.

Decatur City Commission Passes Mandatory Mask Ordinance

The Decatur City Commission has unanimously approved a local ordinance requiring individuals to wear masks and protective coverings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ordinance O-20-09 was adopted during a special called meeting on Friday morning, July 10, 2020. The ordinance is effective starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, and will remain in place until midnight on August 17, 2020, or until it is extended, rescinded, or amended by the City Commission.

The purpose of the ordinance is to help prevent infection by reducing the community spread of COVID-19, a highly contagious and dangerous disease.

The City hopes to achieve the comprehensive use of masks and facial coverings through voluntary compliance. Complimentary masks will be provided to individuals who need them, along with an explanation of the critical need for masks to be worn during the pandemic. Verbal and written warnings will be given as necessary. However, there are civil penalties provided for in the ordinance, starting at limits of $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense and $100 for the third and successive offenses.

City Commission Special Called Meeting

The City Commission will hold a Special Called Meeting this Friday, July 10 at 9 a.m. Please note that due to the Public Health State of Emergency this meeting will be held remotely.

There will not be a physical location for members of the public to attend. We encourage members of the public to access the meeting in one of two ways:

  1. View the live broadcast of the Decatur City Commission meeting at https://www.decaturga.com/citycommission/page/streaming-video
  2. Register in advance to participate through Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/95567743756. Access instructions will be provided in advance of the meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. You may also participate by phone by calling (929) 205-6099 and entering the meeting ID (The 11-digit number shown in the Zoom registration link.)

UDO Community Meeting This Wednesday

As part of phase two of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), we’ll be holding a series of subject-specific interactive meetings during March and April. This first meeting is Wednesday, March 12, from 7-9 p.m. at Decatur City Hall. We’ll be discussing community character – the look and feel of Decatur’s neighborhoods – and considering what, if anything, we should do to better protect or enhance it.
