This is a cross-post from the Be Active Decatur blog.

Why not take the family out for a healthy meal on Tuesday night and be rewarded for it? Decatur Active Living and Decatur Tourism have partnered to promote healthy eating with the Eat Well Indie-Catur campaign happening in October. Eat out at any of the participating restaurants, choose the special healthy meal offered on Tuesday, get your tracker card signed by the wait person and you are on your way to earning a recipe collection! How easy is that?

Eat out any three Tuesdays, get those three signatures on your card and then turn your card in at the Decatur Visitors Center to earn your FREE recipes.

There are three Tuesdays left in the month, so get started this week! Cards are available at the participating restaurants.

This is a great opportunity to try some new dishes.

The City Commission will consider approval of a temporary moratorium on the demolition of existing single-family dwellings and the removal of 12-inch diameter trees at its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.

If adopted, the moratorium will be limited to properties which are zones R-60 and R-85 Single Family Residential and would be effective through Jan. 24, 2014. A draft of the proposed moratorium ordinance can be reviewed here.

You may have noticed orange fencing outside the Towne Square condominiums near the intersection of Sycamore and Church. This will be in place until the investigation and repair of a sinkhole is complete. Everyone is encouraged to be cautious as they travel through this area, especially those who pass the site on the Sycamore sidewalk.

…and the weather is phenomenal, so go head and blow off the afternoon- your boss will understand. You should probably rest up before this jam-packed weekend we have in store for you.
