butter-and-cream

Start the season off with something sweet! Visit Butter and Cream on Church Street for handcrafted hometown ice creams, sorbets, and sundaes. You’ll find classic childhood favorites – think butter pecan and mint chocolate chip – as well as fanciful flavors like Cardamom Honey and Campfire Chocolate. Their menu changes seasonally and holiday taste sensations are on the way! When the nights get too cold for ice cream (Never!) cozy up with a cup of cocoa instead – complete with homemade and oh-so-fluffy marshmallows. Keep their cookies and candies in mind for hostess gifts, teachers’ presents, and stocking stuffers, too! Or stash them all for yourself… We won’t judge.

September 10
Eye on Accessibility, Decatur Square, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Did you know that several government buildings and businesses in Downtown Decatur have recently become more accessible to the blind and visually impaired?

The FAR Vision mobile app allows vision-impaired Atlantans the ability to navigate to local businesses equipped with the necessary technology. Decatur is ahead of the curve, with a growing number of government buildings and local establishments becoming FAR-accessible in recent weeks.

Join Foresight Augmented Reality (FAR) in the Decatur Square, September 10, 2017 from 1-4 p.m., for fun and excitement as we celebrate the continuing progress toward making Decatur completely accessible to all residents.

Using participating businesses in the immediate vicinity of the square, FAR staff and volunteers will provide demonstrations of the mobile app that changes the way the vision-impaired live.

In addition to music and games, the Georgia Blind Sports Association will provide a blind sports demonstration you don’t want to miss!

Learn more about what it means to be FAR-accessible, and how to join the growing number of businesses who can claim that designation at www.foresightAR.com.

Juicy Drop opened last week in the former Salon Red space on Church Street in downtown Decatur. Check out the interior. You would never know it was a hair salon before:

JuicyDrop1

Juicy Drop is a cold pressed juice bar that serves juices, smoothies, acai bowls and salads.

JuicyDrop2

You can order off the menu, pick up a bottle of cold-pressed juice or homemade almond milk, or order a juice cleanse.

JuicyDrop3

There are a number of green juice options. The Green Wave contains kale, lemon, apple, spinach and pear.

JuicyDrop5

If green juice isn’t your thing, you can try a non-green juice like Summer Breeze, which has juiced watermelon and lemon in it.

JuicyDrop6

You can build your own acai bowl with a large selection of fruits, granola and seeds.
