  • The Decatur Arts Alliance hosts an Opening Reception tonight, April 4, 6-8 p.m. at the Decatur Arts Alliance Gallery. The exhibition features works by the nine senior studio art majors of the Agnes Scott College class of 2014. The gallery is located here.
  • Game of Thrones (Ommegang beer) Release Party at Ale Yeah tonight, April 4. In honor of the Game of Thrones, the shop will be selling Ommegang’s GoT-inspired beer, Fire and Blood. Dressing up like your favorite character is encouraged.

Saturday

  • Don’t forget to stop by the Decatur Farmers Market every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. located at the corner of Trinity Place and North McDonough St. 

Sunday

  • Beats & Brunch every Sunday at Colbeh Kitchen, $3 mimosas, $5 classic cocktail and new menu specials

> Greene’s Fine Foods is hosting a wine tasting tonight from 5 to 8:30 p.m. White wines that are perfect for warm temperatures will be featured and the shop is offering 10-20 percent off its bottles.

> The spring Electronics Recycling Day is on Saturday, Marych 22, 9am-1pm at the newly renovated Decatur Public Works building located at 2635 Talley Street. Shredding services and recycling will be available too.

> The Decatur Makers have found a home in the unused church gym across from the Decatur post office. The First Christian Church of Decatur has agreed to lease the building in exchange for building improvements. Stop by for the first Clean-Up-The-Space Day this Saturday, March 22, 9am-2pm.

> The Mingei pop-up shop is open this weekend and is filled with finds from the owners’ most recent buying trip to Morocco. Open Saturday, March 22 10am-6pm and Sunday, March 23 noon-5pm.

> The annual Publix Georgia Marathon is coming through downtown Decatur this Sunday morning. Make some noise at the cheering stations, help put out our Burma Shave-inspired signs around town, and take note of the temporary road closures for the race.

  • New Orleans Snoball Cafe is making chocolate and mint snoballs for St. Patrick’s Day.
  • The Marlay House’s St. Patrick’s Day Bash includes face painting, live music, Irish dancers and a performance by Moira Nelligan & The Dexie Jigs, Monday, March 17, 11:30 AM – midnight.
  • Boogaloos Boutique is offering 15-30 percent off all merchandise for its St. Patrick’s Day Sale Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16.
  • Steinbeck’s cancelled its Sunday celebrations due to inclement weather, but will be open Monday morning at 11:30am serving corned beef and “all the St. Pat’s fixins!”
  • Mac Gee’s, Leon’s and Brick Store are celebrating this weekend. Call head at each location for more info.

  • Sq/Ft just got its first shipment of spring/summer shoes in from Havaianas, Campers, Cushe, and Tsubo.
  • Mama Bath & Body just released a new scent, Honey Almond, which is reminiscent of almonds and the essence of cherries. Spring Soapmaking and Candlemaking classes are posted on the shops website.
  • Wild Oats & Billy Goats hosts its annual art exhibit curated by the City Schools of Decatur this Thursday, March 11, 5-8 p.m.. Come out and support Decatur’s K-5 creative arts.
  • Calavera Bakery opens at 7am with delicious treats like mini-babkas, cinnamon brioche buns and bolillos.
  • Mingei World Arts will be open March 22-23 with new jewelry from Morocco.
  • Big Tex Cantina is hosting its spring block party this Saturday, March 15, 12 pm. Check theirs website for a full lineup of bands.
  • Harbour House Pub invites you to join the spring cornhole league beginning April 1.

Bring the kids to the Callaway parking lot and explore trucks from the City of Decatur and DeKalb County fleets. The event is free, but make sure to bring a non-perishable food item as a donation for Feed The Hungry.

Leapin’ Lizards Parent’s Night Out – Saturday, 6:30-10 p.m.
Hosted by the staff of Leapin’ Lizards to provide parents an opportunity to take the evening off while their children have their own fun in a safe and healthy environment. Snacks and a group activity are include. Register here.
