WHO: Decatur Presbyterian Church

WHAT: Blessing of the Animals

WHEN: Saturday, October 1, 2016, 10:30 AM

WHERE: Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA 30030.  The service will be held in the Terrace Garden at the corner of Church and Sycamore Streets.  In case of rain it will be moved to Slack Fellowship Hall

All are invited to join Dr. Speed and his yellow lab, Chevy, for a blessing of the animals. The blessing of pets and animals is often celebrated on October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, or near that date.  This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. St. Francis (1182-1226) was a monk who founded the contemporary order of Franciscans. He was known for his vow of poverty and his special connection to animals, among many other things.

For more information about the event please contact Decatur Presbyterian at 404-378-1777.
