So if you’re interested in learning about what’s included in the proposed “pending spending” plan, join Budget Manager Meredith Roark, Assistant City Manager Andrea Arnold and others on Tuesday the 20th from 7pm to 8:30pm. This second Community Budget Gathering will be held at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street.

This is your chance to find out how the budget process works and share feedback.  If you missed the first Community Budget Gathering back in April, don’t worry. The City of Decatur is hosting a Community Budget Gathering on Tuesday, April 8th from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at Universal Joint, 906 Oakview Road. Join Budget Manager Meredith Roark, Assistant City Manager Andrea Arnold and others interested in learning about the city’s budget process.If you missed the Budget Expo, this is your chance to find out how the budget process works and give your input.

Until the 2nd annual Budget Expo at the Decatur Recreation Center! Touch a Budget

The FY12-13 revised and FY13-14 proposed budgets are now available for review. You can check out a hard copy at the Decatur Library, 215 Sycamore Street or at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street. The budget is also available online at www.decaturga.com/budget.

This year there are several ways you can share your input about the budget, including speaking at the public hearings on June 3rd and June 17th during the City Commission meeting, participating in the Open City Hall online forum (topic to be introduced next week) or by stopping by the inaugural Budget Expo from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th at the Decatur Recreation Center. The “Touch a Budget” event will feature items included in the proposed budget, so come on out and chat with staff, see some cool things and maybe win a prize or two. This is your chance to find out how the budget process works and give your input. This is the third of three meetings. Participation in one of the previous two gatherings not required to attend. Do you ever think about how your City tax dollars are spent?  And how are decisions made to fund City services?  Or where does the money come from to pay for these services?   If you’ve ever pondered these questions or any others about the City’s budget and finances, come be a part of the City’s Community Budget Gathering group for the 2013-2014 budget year.  You’ll have the opportunity to meet City budget staff, learn about the budgeting process and give your opinion on budget priorities.

The March and May group meetings will be held at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street, at 7:00 p.m.  The April group meeting will be held during the late afternoon at a location to be determined. Meetings are scheduled for the following dates:

  • March 12th
  • April 16th
  • May 14th
