The Cask Room has officially been open for less than a month in Oakhurst. It’s located at 900 W. College Ave. in the same shopping plaza as Revolution Donuts, Lawrence’s Cafe, Avellino’s and Adore Salon. Here’s a description of Decatur’s newest wine/beer-focused dining spot:

The Cask Room is a full service wine and beer establishment dedicated to providing a unique experience to our customers through the use of automatic wine dispensers and serving specialty craft beers. We will change our wine selections throughout the year and showcase wines from around the world.  Our customers can enjoy premium wines at a press of a button and create their own tastings. We also offer small plates, including charcuterie plate, cheese plate, paninis, and sweet and savory crepes.  We are very excited to be a part of the Decatur community, and our goal is to provide a relaxing, educational, and welcoming atmosphere for the community.

With the holiday season fast approaching, Worthmore Jewelers continues its long-standing tradition of giving back to the Atlanta community it calls home. This year, Worthmore will kick off the season of giving with a free personal safety seminar in Decatur on Nov. 13.

The seminars will be led by local safety expert Michael Briant of SKYDAS Group International — an award-winning strategic security consulting firm. Briant will focus on preventative instruction — encouraging situational awareness, understanding criminal methodologies, and identifying outlying behaviors — with supplementary physical self-defense instruction offered by Highland Martial Arts later in the evening.

Community members of all physical skill levels are invited to attend the seminars.

The event will be held at the Decatur Recreation Center in downtown Decatur (231 Sycamore St.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy complimentary Raging Burrito appetizers along with the safety seminar.

Harris Botnick, Worthmore Jewelers president and owner, said the events were inspired by tough situations faced by close community friends. “Crime rates really sky-rocket this time of year, and we’ve had quite a few friends fall victim to muggings and other senseless personal attacks,” asserted Botnick. “We feel that helping to keep our friends, families, and community members safe is the best possible gift we can give this holiday season.”

For more information about the event, visit WorthmoreJewelers.com/happenings.
