Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Join us February 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the celebration of City of Decatur’s “1000 trees by 2023” bicentennial. As part of the celebration we will be giving away 200 seedlings that will include an official bicentennial tree certificate. The event will be held at the United Children’s Methodist Home property at 500 S. Columbia Dr. We will have local arborists as well as landscape and tree services on hand to answer questions.
Downtown Utility Construction Begins Today: Expect delays

The impact
Beginning Tuesday, February 20, there will be utility construction taking place along East Ponce De Leon Ave from Clairemont Ave. to Church Street; and along Church Street from East Ponce De Leon Ave to Trinity Place. The work is expected to conclude on Wednesday, February 21.
How to manage
Lane closures and delays should be expected. East/west traffic can avoid the area by taking Commerce Drive or Trinity Place; north/south traffic can by-pass Church Street via Commerce Drive on the city’s west side.

Update:
There are no agenda action items for consideration by the Decatur City Commission for the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 2018; therefore, the meeting has been cancelled.
The next meeting of the Decatur City Commission is scheduled for Monday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Commission Meeting Room, Ground Floor, Decatur City Hall, 509 North McDonough Street.
February Test of Tornado Outdoor Warning Siren System is Today

The February test of the Tornado Outdoor Warning Siren System will happen today (2/14/18) at 5:00 p.m. The test should last approximately one minute. Should the weather become inclement in the next couple of hours, the test will be postponed until Thursday, 15 February 2018.
