Parker’s On Ponce is holding a James Stewart Winemaker’s Dinner tonight at 7 pm. James Stewart was featured on the cover of the March 2010 Entrepreneur Magazine. Several Dancer’s CORE is celebrating their 30 Year Anniversary tonight  from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at the studio. The festivities will include mingling with the dancers, light refreshments and a champagne toast! For more information or to make a donation, click here.

Little Shop of Stories invites you to Shrek Storytime tonight at 7 pm. The final movie installment in the Shrek saga will be released soon, and to get ready for the new movie they’re having a special storytime featuring William Steig’s classic book, Shrek. You can also draw your favorite characters and read other gross monster stories.

 

Rhythm Ranch

The Decatur Library invites you to hear Rhythm Ranch (formerly Cowboy Envy) tonight at 7 pm in the auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Rhythm Ranch  is a new group anchored by two members of the beloved all female western band, Cowboy Envy, Berné Poliakoff (aka Frenchy) and Kathleen Hatfield (aka Buffalo K). Their work has garnered much praise and multiple awards, including the “Best Harmony” award from the Western Music Association (twice). Their vocals have been described as “heavenly…with harmonies to die for” (Atlanta Journal Constitution). Together, Frenchy and Buffalo K have performed at festivals and concerts from Alaska to South Carolina. With Rhythm Ranch, the ladies have joined up with an amazing fiddler (Al Pieper) and an extraordinary bassist (L.A. Tuten). Together they deliver dynamic performances, filled with wonderful music and great humor, delighting audiences of all ages. The event is free to the community.

Join Several Dancers Core at “Lunchtime in the Studio” on Thursday, November 12th from noon until 1 pm.

CORE dancers will share their experiences of working on Artistic Director Sue Schroeder’s newest work: The Point. The dancers will share information and insight on a number of creative processes that they have been exploring, and will show examples of the results. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments on what they see. Free lunch for the first 40 attendees generously provided by Bistro in a Box and Starbucks. Then later that day, join them for “Salon” from 6 until 8pm. 

This is the first in a series of Salons showing the development of artistic director Sue Schroeder’s newest work, The Point, in an informal atmosphere inviting discussion and dialogue about the creative process.

One of Decatur’s best kept secrets is Several Dancers Core’s Lunchtime in the Studio series.  If you are looking for a festive (& free) lunch, be one of the first 40 people to enter the studio at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 5.  Lunch is sponsored by Saba, Brick Store Pub, and Starbucks so it is sure to be tasty.

CORE Performance Company will discuss their outreach work performing and giving workshops in the schools, and will show part of their school show “Weaving the World into Flower,” which is based on the full-length work Corazon Abriendo (Heart Opening).

The event is from 12 noon – 1 p.m., admission is free, and lunch is on the house for the first 40 folks.  Several Dancers Core is located at 139 Sycamore Street.
