Due to the threat of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours for the remainder of the work week, the test of the Tornado Outdoor Warning Siren System will not be audible this month. The next audible test has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 5th at 5:00 p.m.

If you do hear the sirens in the next few days, they are indicating an actual tornado emergency and you should seek shelter immediately. Want to know more about what to do in a tornado emergency? You may or may not know that the Tornado Outdoor Warning Siren System is currently receiving an upgrade and an expansion. The poles and equipment have been installed and we are close to being able to test out the new system. Stay tuned to the Decatur Minute blog and social media for details on when the upgraded siren system will be tested later in May.
