The Decatur Lifelong Community Advisory Board kicks off a monthly Third Thursday series of informative talks in May. The talks will cover a wide variety of topics related to making Decatur a place to live throughout your lifetime. Whether you have concerns about your parents, children, grandchildren or yourself, you will discover resources to answer your questions.
The first talk is this Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Decatur Recreation Center. Guest speakers Kyle Jenette and Deborah Westover will cover the risks of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias as well as the signs of cognitive decline versus normal aging. They will also debunk common myths about memory loss as people age.
Kyle Jennette is Clinical Research Coordinator for the Division of Cognitive Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine and the Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. He is board certified in psychometry (the measure of cognitive abilities such as memory, attention and problem solving) and has worked as a clinical psychometrician for five years.
Deborah Westover is Clinical Research Nurse at Emory University’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. She has more than four years of experience working in the Neuroscience field, including time working at Grady Memorial Hospital’s Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center.
