Bike Training is upon us and volunteers are needed to make the training a success. The training begins on Wednesday, September 30 and concludes on Friday, October 9. Please find listed below dates and volunteer time slots. Consider volunteering to help our Decatur children learn the importance of bike safety.

We are proud to announce that our blog has achieved the marker of having over 50,000 views! It has been fun working on the blog, considering a couple of years ago I didn’t even know what a blog was. Congratulations to all of our contributors as well and thanks to our readers for considering us a useful resource.
Step into autumn and explore 13 gardens both private and public across the City of Decatur. From the stately and formal to the artsy and whimsical and everything in between, the tour blooms with ideas to feed gardening inspiration year round. Works by local artists will also be displayed. The Saturday evening tour will feature the Oakhurst Community Garden and a wonderful modern garden with a pool.
The DeKalb Rape Crisis Center will be having their “Jewelry Sale” on Monday, September 21 on the Bandstand on the Old Courthouse Square. The sale includes used jewelry, purses, and some other items. The majority of the items are gently used and a great bargain as most are under $2. Be sure to stop by to find that special piece of jewelry that you just can’t live without. My friends and I love this sale and often find real “treasures”. You will also be supporting a great cause in the community. The sale is from 9 am until 3 pm. Shop early for the best finds!
You may have heard Ernie and Shaun play at the Decatur Wine Festival. They have played at this event for all four years of the festival, and will play again this year.
The Decatur – DeKalb YMCA Fall Five is on Saturday, September 19th from 8:30 am until 11 am. The Fall Five is a 5K race around Oakhurst that also includes a Tot Trot. The proceeds from the race go directly to College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Oakhurst.
Jazz Nights in Oakhurst continue on Thursday on the lawn of the Solarium. The music begins at 7 pm and features Joel Granson.
