Do you remember when we put a call-out for a Decatur “buy local” slogan? Well, we received over 250 entries! While many of the entries seemed to be more focused on Decatur in general (not exactly what we were looking for), there were a lot of great slogans that encourage people to keep their money in Decatur (woohoo!).

After weeks of debating and mixing different slogans with different mottos our committee came up the four finalists below.

And now we need your feedback. Leave a comment and tell us what you think and which one is your favorite.

Just a few things to keep in mind as you scroll through the finalists:

  • The graphics are just an example of what the slogans could look like visually and not necessarily what will be used.
  • We can switch up and use multiple mottos with the winning slogan, so focus more on the actual slogans and not the secondary line on some of the logos.
  • The last option (Love Decatur Buy Local) is exactly what Asheville uses as its buy local slogan.

Option 1: Keep it Indie-Catur

Option 2: Decatur Loco

Option 3: Respect the Dec

Option 4: Love Decatur Buy Local

We look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Tomorrow is the first Wednesday of May so we’ll be testing the tornado outdoor warning sirens at 5:00 p.m.   The test should last approximately one minute. Should the weather become inclement  tomorrow, the test will be postponed until  Thursday, 3 May 2012.

If you have questions or want more information about the siren system, check out the Siren page on the City’s website or contact Assistant City Manager Tony Parker at 404-370-4102.

The fourth annual Decatur Green Fest will be held Saturday, May 12th from 2p.m. – 10 p.m. in downtown Decatur. The event will feature live music, 50 green vendors, an organic tasting area, an artists’ market featuring recycled materials, a Green fashion show, and a kids’ zone. Last year more than 3,000 people attended the event, and organizers are expecting even larger crowds this year!

With the festival expanding, we have more opportunities than ever for people to help out – with everything from helping musicians load in and out to helping in the Kids’ Zone to assisting with setting up and taking down booths to beer/concession sales.  There are many ways to help!
