Newest Update from DeKalb County 12/30/2015 @ 6 p.m.:  The County and/ or its contractors will be interrupting water service to properly repair the 14-inch water main located on Superior Avenue. Service interruptions are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 31 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. In most cases, this interruption should last approximately four hours, although durations may change depending on location and field conditions.

Updated Information:  DeKalb County sent out an update last night to say that businesses and residents had temporary service overnight but that today (Wednesday, Dec. 30) service will be interrupted as crews continue to repair the 14-inch water main on Superior Ave.

The DeKalb Department of Watershed Management notified us that their Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Division has initiated an emergency shutoff to the 14-inch water main located along Superior Avenue or an adjacent street to perform an emergency repair of the 14-inch water main.  The Department of Watershed notified affected residents/businesses via letter with the following information:

“This letter will serve as formal notification that the County and/or its contractors will need to interrupt your water service to properly repair and 14-inch water main located in your community.  Service interruptions are scheduled for Tuesday, December 29….

When the water is restored, you may notice air in your pipes and the water may be brown in color.  Particles accumulate in water mains and can be stirred up as valves are operated and water flow patterns are changed.  The discoloration isn’t harmful but can stain.  We typically flush out the water main after improvements are made to remove air and rust, but are unable to flush out your individual service lines.  Therefore, you may need to allow the water in your home to run a few minutes to rid the line of air and discoloration of water.”

Questions or concerns should be directed to the CIP Information Line at 1-800-986-1108 or email projectinfo@dekalbcountyga.gov.

Santa Shop with a Cop

Officer Roberts and Officer Adams participated in the DeKalb County Fraternal Order of Police 24th Annual Santa Shop with a Cop program this past weekend.

Officer Roberts helped these young ladies select gifts for themselves and family members too.

Officer Roberts helped these young ladies shop for their favorite thing, dolls!

The kids were given a pre-set amount of money to spend on themselves and family members.  The officers assisted with the shopping and said they had to keep the kids on track and remind them to pick out gifts for themselves because the kids were more concerned about shopping for family members.
