For the fourth year, Decatur will host a water station for the Publix (was ING) Georgia Marathon on Sunday morning, March 20. Once again, we will provide water, Gatorade and encouragement to 3,000+ marathon participants as they pass through Decatur at the halfway point in their 26.2 mile personal challenge. Fifteen veterans have volunteered to return to staff the water station, most for the fourth year. But we need another 20 to do the job. We set up on Clairemont across from the Holiday Inn with Mr. Entertainer and Decatur DJ, Doug Aholt, providing the soundtrack! The music alone is worth it. We arrive at 6:00AM and are finished about 10:30AM. If you are up for a unique Sunday morning experience and for helping to show Decatur’s hospitality to these marathoners, please join us. Volunteer sign-up instructions follow. Sign up as soon as possible so we will know that we will have a full crew. If you have trouble signing up, email water station coordinator, Michael Harbin, at mharbin9@gmail.com or call 404.405.3618.
