Decatur City Dance, the oldest performing dance group in DeKalb County, performs their popular Winter Dance concert at the Monsignor Terry W. Young Center for Performing Arts on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7. The performance features more than a dozen pieces of original ballet, jazz, modern and swing pieces designed to mesmerize children and adults alike. This year, the acclaimed tapper Josh Hilberman (www.hilbermania.com) will present a unique tap piece. When not joining the Decatur dancers, Josh can be seen in places like Lincoln Center or on stage with Manhattan Tap.
This year’s Winter Dance concert features inventively choreographed pieces set to music from artists as diverse as Cold Play, Nora Jones and Debussy. Additionally, Decatur’s acclaimed Rug Cutters, the zesty Swing Dance troupe, will perform a few numbers along with Birda Ringstad’s Rhythm Keepers Tap.
