Commissioners Cup Winner: 116 Landsdowne Ave.
This address is the source of that glow you can see from nearly any point in the city. This display has it all: high energy light show with a soundtrack – playing on its own radio station, 89.1 on your FM dial. Thank you to the Thompson family for truly taking holiday lights over the top!
Oversized Wreath – 111 Lucerne St.
The judges agree that this is the largest wreath ever noted in the storied history of Decorate Decatur. Beautiful by day, stunning at night. Don’t miss it!
An Abundance of Lights – 107 Ridley Lane
Pleasing overall composition with an abundance of lights, especially on the large, intricately wrapped tree. The judges noted all of the details from the wrapped gifts in the foreground to the outlined planting beds, the lighted entrance and the decorated tree on the second story porch.
Star Wars – 267 Cambridge Ave.
Looks like the Force has awakened a unique approach to Decorate Decatur here! In addition to the many Star Wars figures and objects, be sure to check out the kettle grill made over to look like R2D2. One burger with a side of Death Star blueprints, please!
Holiday Crowd – 221 McKoy St.
It’s a non-stop party on this front lawn with a mashup of characters: a multiplicity of Santas, reindeer, snowmen, a holiday dinosaur, Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and C3PO and R2D2.
Holiday Fun By The Yard – 410 Fayetteville Rd.
The judges interpret this yard full of oversized inflatable figures as a representation of an overflowing affection for the holiday season. A low fence of candy canes around the perimeter is no barrier for the exuberance.
Hand-crafted Holiday – 228 3rd Ave.
Take a step back several decades in time with this charming display of old-school cut-outs. Neighborhood legend has it that these decorations were hand-crafted by the homeowner’s grandfather and have long been a treasure for holiday visitors to Decatur.
A Beautiful Sight – 211 W. Hill St.
Pretty by day with a Moravian star, potted poinsettias, and a fully decorated outdoor evergreen, this display is even better at night with the star alight along with the oversized candy canes and ornaments. The lights strung through the fencing complete the display.
Business Winner – Sharian Rugs Magic Carpets, 368 W. Ponce de Leon Ave.
Magic carpets are on the loose with jolly snowmen on board! Enjoy this hand-painted window artwork on the showroom and the historic art deco office as you stroll along W. Ponce.
Neighborhood – The Parkwoods Coordinated Décor
The spirited neighbors of East and West Parkwood, Parkwood Lane and Upland Road coordinated their mad skills and included colorful lighted balls in many of their yard decorations. Well done!
