Being the event planner for the City of Decatur brings the same question from people I run into: “What’s coming up next?”. Since it is January and (to quote Bing Crosby) the weather outside is frightful, or at least very cold to us Southerners, there are no big events scheduled on the Square for a while. However, there ARE things to do in Decatur!

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love will be speaking at Agnes Scott College at Presser Hall on Monday, January 11 at 7 pm. She has written a new book, Committed, A Skeptic Makes Peace With Marriage in which the author, who had sworn off marriage, searches for its  true meaning and chronicles her journey.  I look forward to not only attending, but to buying and reading the new book. On Thursday, January 14th, Elise Witt and the Mezzanine Band will be playing at the Decatur Library Auditorium located at 215 Sycamore Street in Decatur. The free show begins at 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm. From Karen Skellie at the Library: “Elize Witt is a performer to remember with international savvy & personal charm.
