Reminder: the City of Decatur is hosting Neighborhood Clean-up Days on Saturdays in March and April, to allow residents to dispose of bulky materials that would not normally be placed in pay-as-you-throw bags. Every street in the City has been assigned to one Saturday. Visit the Neighborhood Cleanup Days page on the city website for detailed instructions and specified dates for each street.

Why are there no clean up days for the downtown condo communities? We pay lots of taxes and expect to be included as participants as well!
Hi Nikki, I understand your concern. Condos are not included in this event because they are not charged a sanitation fee. Single family homes are assessed a sanitation fee each year (that goes into an Enterprise Fund- separate from the General Fund) that covers garbage and yard trimming collection, recycling services and Spring Clean-up. I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me if there are any additional questions.
Thanks Renae, that clears things up nicely. By the way, some of us would still like to help out other Decatur communities.
