This year our event takes place Saturday September 5th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and
Sunday September 6th from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM
Installation starts Thursday September 3th in the morning for locations off the main streets and around the Old Courthouse. No parking signs will be posted on the main streets at the discretion of the Decatur Police Department. Street closures of N. McDonough start at 8:00 AM Friday September 4th, Ponce De Leon, S. Clairemont, S. McDonough, E. Court Square and Sycamore street closures start on Friday September 4th at 3:00. Tent/exhibit installation will start as the streets clear. Dismantle will start at 6:00 PM September 6 and normally complete by midnight when all streets will be reopened.
The Book Market Street Fair will have over 200 booths, food and drink, music and storytelling. The booths are taken by writers, journals, publishers, writers’ groups, artists, and many other groups and individuals celebrating the written word.
Expectations for the 2015 Book Festival are over 85,000 attendees, 150 exhibitors, 20 presentation stages and 600 speakers, in all a lot of people coming to downtown Decatur to enjoy the fair, city, restaurants and shops.
