The Historic Preservation Commission has an opening for a resident interested in serving as its newest member. The HPC oversees and approves proposed changes to local landmark properties and to properties located in Decatur’s five local historic districts (Clairemont Historic District, McDonough-Adams-King’s Highway District, Old Decatur, the Parkwoods, and Ponce de Leon Court) and hosts the annual Decatur Design Awards program. It meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough St.
Interested applicants for the open seat should complete a Statement of Interest and submit it by Friday, May 29, 2015 to Preservation Planner Angela Threadgill at angela.threadgill@decaturga.com or at Historic Preservation Commission, Decatur City Hall, P.O. Box 220, Decatur, GA 30030. Applicants should have demonstrated a special interest, experience, or education in history, preservation, architecture, landscape design, or planning.
