What was that? You didn’t know there was a National Public Works Week?! Well, there is and it’s well deserved. The City of Decatur Public Works department has some of the hardest workers I’ve ever known. Trash pick-up is only a small portion of what our Public Works employees do. Without Public Works our parks would be overgrown, City-owned buildings like the Rec Center and City Hall would be in disrepair, festivals would cease to function and the streets would be a mess. Public Works should really have a whole appreciation month!
Here’s a schedule of how we’ll be celebrating the City of Decatur Public Works this week:
Monday, May 16, 8 a.m. – Proclamation Event
Tuesday, May 17, 10 a.m. – School Poster Contest
Wednesday, May 18, 9 a.m.-noon – Guided School Tours
Thursday, May 19, 1-4 p.m. – Open House
Friday, May 20 – Employee Appreciation Day
For those of you who have never seen our Public Works facility, I highly recommend that you attend the Open House on Thursday. Click here for a map.
