Habitat for Humanity DeKalb launched the inaugural Playhouse Build in February with eleven teams participating in building Playhouses to sell to the public as a source of funding for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. The Playhouse Build event kicked off at a February 12th Framing Frenzy with 40 people working to frame 10 playhouses. Since then, the Playhouses have been in the hands of each team as they work to customize and complete their unique Playhouse design.
Participants in the Playhouse Build include teams from Tucker High School Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Georgia Perimeter College, Meade’s Doors and More, Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Pepsi Beverage Company, the National Coalition of Black Women, and four individual teams. Southface and the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority have partnered to build a Green Playhouse for the event.
The completed Playhouses will be on display on the Decatur Square and at Perimeter Mall during the week of April 9th – 17th. The public will have an opportunity to bid to purchase the playhouses beginning April 10th online at www.DeKalbHabitat.org The public is also encouraged to “vote” on their favorite playhouse through DeKalb Habitat’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/dekalbhabitat. Fun awards for playhouse designs will be announced at the Golden Hammer Awards Ceremony the evening of April 16th at the Holiday Inn Select in Decatur. The Golden Hammer event is a benefit for DeKalb Habitat celebrating the accomplishments of 5 award winners for their commitment to affordable housing. More information on the event can be found at www.DeKalbHabitat.org
That photo makes me want to see a Mondrian playhouse.
This looks very cute. I haven’t had a chance to experience such as beautiful like this play house when I was a kid. Thank you for sharing this us!
