Know Any Photographers? Get Them to Enter the Cemetery Photo Contest!

The Decatur Cemetery Fall/Winter Photo Contest runs through Feb. 28. Prizes will be awarded in two categories – amateur and professional – and the winning entries will be displayed on the Decatur website and in the newly renovated Decatur Cemetery Office.

Photos must be taken in 2010/2011 and submitted by the original photographer. Entries must be 5 x 7 or 8 x 10, color or black and white, either digital images (submitted on a CD or USB drive) or prints. You may submit up to five entries. Please include your name, email address and phone number with each entry. The photos will not be returned so be sure to keep a copy.

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the green space for the fall/winter season or the unique character of the cemetery. Photos can include people walking pets as well as landscapes and other subjects.

To enter mail prints or CDs to Decatur Cemetery Photo Contest, Attention: Felix Floyd, 2635 Talley St., Decatur, GA 30030.

It correct address is

instead of
2653 Talley St., Decatur, GA 30030.

I sent my entry to 2653 Talley Street as that was the address in the Decatur Focus. I have been waiting patiently for an announcement of the winners as it does not state anywhere when this will occur, but now I am wondering if my entry was even received as it appears I sent it to the wrong address. Can someone please let me know if it was received? Also, when will the announcement of the winners take place? Thanks.

Hi…I posted this last night, but it appears it has been removed. I would appreciate a response to my questions. Thanks.

My original post stated I submitted an entry for this contest to the incorrect address (2653 Talley Street) indicated both on this website and in the Decatur Focus. I have been waiting patiently for an announcement of the winner as it was not indicated anywhere when the announcement would take place. However, it seems entirely possible at this time that my entry was never received. I would appreciate it if someone would let me know if my entry was received as well as when the winners will be announced.

The winners will be announced in the May issue of the Decatur Focus. If you will send an email to linda.harris@decaturga.com, I will forward it to the Friends of the Decatur Cemetery who handled the details of the photography contest. They will be able to tell you if they received your entry.
