It is going to be an “artful” weekend in Decatur!
On Saturday, October 10, join the community for the 12th annual Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival. Over 50 artists, music all afternoon ending with the wonderful (and one of my favorites) Heaven Davis Band from 5 – 7 pm, a Community Pavilion featuring City of Decatur non-profit groups and a great Children’s Area. The festival hours are 10 am until 7 pm, and preceeded by the annual Arts Run beginning at 8 am.
After the festival, head over to Church Street in downtown Decatur for three photography exhibits. In conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography, there will be an opening reception for “Ninos” by Vicki Regan at Mingei from 7 until 10 pm. The Seen Gallery, Taste and Java Monkey will also join in the spirit with concurrent exhibits. The Seen Gallery will feature photographer Jamie Squire, a Kansas City-based editorial and commercial photographer specializing in sports.
On Sunday, October 11th, the First Baptist Church of Decatur invites the community to “Postcards from Paris”, a musical performance by the Atlanta Symphony Communty Orchestra. The concert begins at 3:30 pm and is free to the community. The First Baptist Church is located at 308 Clairemont Avenue in Decatur.
The Oakhurst Arts & Musical Festival was fantastic. Everyone in that community is SO friendly and cheerful.
May I have your e-mail address, so I can share information on an upcoming event in Candler Park?
Thanks!
