The first ever Decatur Old House Fair was a great success. Nearly 200 people showed up to learn about their old houses and meet folks who can help them fix those old houses! Ed Daugherty’s Historic Landscape lectures was so popular we had to break it up after it ran overtime by 20 minutes. We love Ed! The wood window restoration workshop was a big hit and our expert window craftsman, Tom Bretherton, may actually be taller than Mayor Floyd!
The award for the most clever exhibitor give-a-way goes to Jim Sabol at Plumbworks. They gave away “Joe the Plumber” dolls to our happy participants. No word on whether the “Joe the Plumber” doll was voting for Obama or McCain.
The most creative candy display award goes to the daughters of M. Cary and Daughters Plumbing Contractors. Not many people would offer people free candy in a low flush toilet. Yum-o!
