The City of Decatur will be participating in Earth Hour again this year on Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 until 9:30 pm. I encourage you to turn off your lights and non-essential electrictronics. For some ideas on activities and to sign up to participate, visit the Earth Hour website.

“On Earth Hour hundreds of millions of people around the world will come together to call for action on climate change by doing something quite simple—turning off their lights for one hour. The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations.”

There are always things going on at the Decatur Library, and this week is no exception! Tom Fisch will be sharing his musical talents at a free musical program this Thursday, March 11 at 7 pm.

“Tom’s music is like describing a favorite recipe—the first ingredient is tasteful acoustic guitar playing.  Second, add Tom’s rich vocal style.  Combine with the heart and soul of traditional folk and country tunes, and you’ve cooked up some extraordinary and innovative entertainment.  With the background of the Blue Ridge Mountains for inspiration, this North Carolinian and his music have found a comfortable place to call home.  You’ll enjoy the stellar musicianship and warm, engaging personality he brings to the stage.”

The Decatur Library is located at 215 Sycamore Street, Decatur and the performance begins at 7:00p.m. Doors open at 6:30p.m

Caroline Aiken will bring an all star band to Eddie’s Attic to perform a live show that is to become her 8th CD entitled “Welcome Home.” The band features some of Atlanta’s best players – Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band), Charlie Wooton (Zydefunk) and Tomi Martin (Three5Human).  Other special guests may also join them onstage.

Caroline invites her  homegrown fans to be part of the audience. Songs performed will be original unrecorded material.  Eddie’s Attic has long been a musical home for Caroline and it made sense to record this where she’s played many shows over the years.  Georgia has its own musical style and has spawned many prolific musicians.  Caroline’s been proud to share that southern vibe worldwide, and use some of our state’s talent for this latest recording.

The show will be held on Saturday, March 6th beginning at 8 PM. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Or for $25 you get a ticket to the show and a voucher for the CD when it is released.
