Don’t forget to participate in the Fall Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, October 5th. This year we’re combining two of your favorite recycling events to make it simple and convenient for you to recycle your old electronics and Styrofoam, and safely shred and recycle your documents too! Since we started these events in 2005, we’ve diverted more than 1 million pounds of electronics from landfills, and in the year since we added paper shredding we’ve collected 40,000 pounds.
WHEN: Saturday, October 5, 9 am -1 pm
NEW LOCATION: Callaway Building parking lot, 120 W. Trinity Place *enter from the south on Commerce Drive
CONTACT: Sean Woodson, Solid Waste Superintendent, 678-898-8562
If you plan to do some shopping this weekend to replace those electronics, you’re in luck. The State of Georgia will have an ENERGY STAR and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday October 4 through October 6, 2013. During the sales tax holiday, certain items will be exempt from sales tax if they have the ENERGY STAR or WaterSense label and have a purchase price of $1,500 or less per item. See more details here.
