On Wednesday, 9 November 2011 at 2:00 p.m., FEMA, the FCC and NOAA* will conduct the first ever Nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) test. The EAS test plays a key role in ensuring that the nation is prepared for any type of hazard, and that the U.S. public can receive critical and vital information should it ever be needed. This test will last approximately 30 seconds and will be broadcast on every radio, TV, cable, and other stations across the nation. However, NOAA Weather Radio WILL NOT be broadcasting the test.
