Even though the 2011 edition of the Emergency Management guide is just around the corner, I wanted to let everyone know now about something cool that FEMA has just introduced – an Emergency Preparedness smart phone app! (Currently the app is only available for Android phones but worry not iPhone and Blackberry users, you’re version is due out soon.) With the new app, you will be able to:
– Check off the items you have in your family’s emergency kit,
– Enter your family emergency meeting locations,
– Review safety tips on what to do before, during and after a disaster,
– View a map of shelters and disaster recovery centers across the U.S., and
– Read FEMA’s latest blog posts.
For more information on the new app, check out FEMA’s blog. For Decatur specific information, check out the City’s Emergency Management webpage.
