I hope all of you are busy decorating your wagons, bikes, scooters and cars for the annual July 4th Pied Piper Parade this afternoon. Remember the line-up begins t 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will be led by the City Commissioners in the Mini-Fire Truck.
Afterwards, plan to stay for the Callanwolde Concert Band’s concert beginning at 7 p.m. They have a fabulous set of patriotic and show tunes especially for us!
Then get ready for the fireworks to go off at dark – usually between 9:15 and 9:30 depending on the weather. We’ll let you know if we have to cancel b/c of thunderstorms but keep your fingers crossed that won’t happen. Decatur resident Drew Stauss and his fireworks shooting team is getting ready now for the big show. There are plenty of places around Decatur to watch the show if you do not want to come to the square. James Brewer-Calvert and his congregation at the First Christian Church invite you to sit on their lawn (and their restrooms will be open!).
Send in your favorite shot of the fireworks or your favorite place to watch them and we’ll post them on our Facebook page. Happy July 4th!
Is there going to be a posting on whether the fireworks are “go” tonight (the 4th)?
Thanks, in advance.
Rick
