The City of Decatur decided to defer collection of this Monday and Tuesday’s residential sanitation collection to next week. Click HERE for more details. This is due mainly to concerns about our smaller vehicles being able to travel safely on some residential streets and also on driveways. In addition, the recycling collection facility will not be opened tomorrow to accept material from our contractor.
Instead our residential sanitation crew who have not been able to work this week, reported to work today for an unusual task. Staff gathered shovels and brooms and went to work clearing the snow and ice from the downtown sidewalks. Check out the pictures below to see them in action.
If you have any questions about how the weather has affected city services, please call 404-370-4102.
Another reason to call our Public Works Folks AWESOME!!
And one reason folks move to Decatur — they can see their tax dollars at work!
This was GREAT, I know the city of Decatur was so very happy that you guys came out in this snow/ice to make sure that they were able to be safe. Whoever made that call did a good service for their citizens. ME, I am still home-bound….just chill in! I have seen a few cars go by in my neck of the woods but that is all… see you guys soon (KEEP SMILING)
