October means cooler weather and lots of events for lots of different causes. On Thursday, October 14 there are at least two choices in Decatur – one outside and one inside so take your pick.
The Decatur Education Foundation’s Low Country Boil No. 8 features food by Chefs Michael Condon and Ray Allen of Badda Bing. Beer provided by Victory Brewing COmpany, music by the Dammages, and plenty of “Gourmet & Getaway” auction items. The Low Country Boil will be held at the Solarium, 321 W. Hill Street. All proceeds benefit the Decatur Education Foundation. Tickets are $50 and include food, beer, wine, soft drinks and a t-shirt. Click here to purchase tickets.
Prefer something a little less boisterous? Then the Decatur First United Methodist Church’s production of To Kill A Mockingbird offers an indoor, quiet alternative. To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Harper Lee and adapted for stage by Christopher Sergel, is directed by Sharon Brewer. Performances are Oct. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 16 and 17 at 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets are available at the door. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for middle and high school students and college students with ID. DFUMC is located at the corner of E. Ponce de Leon & Commerce Drive. Click here for more information.
