The City’s new Tornado Outdoor Warning Siren system will be tested for installation purposes this Friday (January 22, 2010) at 12:00 PM. The test will last for approximately two minutes.
The first official monthly testing of the system will be Wednesday, February 3rd at 5:00 p.m. If the weather is inclement on that day, the test will be postponed until the following Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Each month, the sirens will sound for approximately one minute.
Did this test take place as scheduled? We live on the short stretch of Superior Ave. between Scott and N. Decatur, and although we were expecting the test, we did not hear the siren.
Just curious, and thanks!
Yes, the sirens sounded as scheduled. The system was designed to give warning to people who are outdoors so if you are inside your home, chances are you won’t hear them.
