Patti Garrett officially joined the ranks of the Decatur City Commission when she was sworn in at the first meeting in January, 2010. Patti was elected to a four-year term and replaced Mary Alice Kemp who did not run for re-election. Patti is pictured immediately after the swearing in when she took her place at the table. Within minutes she was seconding motions!
Commissioner Fred Boykin was also elected to his 3rd four-year term and was sworn in by City Attorney Bryan Downs. Fred owns Bicycle South and is active in the Safe Routes to School Program. He begins his 9th year as a City Commissioner.
Bill Floyd was re-elected to his position as Mayor and Jim Baskett as Mayor-Pro Tem. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are elected by their fellow Commissioners for one year. The City Commission renewed the contract for Peggy Merriss, City Manager. Peggy has served the City since 1983 and has been City Manager since 1993. Peggy is pictured with Mayor Bill Floyd.
