There is a lot going on in Decatur for Halloween, for both the wee ones and the adults.
Starting on Thursday at 7 PM, Little Shop of Stories is hosting an evening of favorite (and not too scary) Halloween stories and some trick-or-treating around the Square.
Then on Friday night, Little Shop is hosting a Graveyard Party 7 PM. Author Neil Gaiman has issued a challenge to indie bookstores to hold the MOST AWESOME party based on the MOST AWESOME Graveyard Book and the winner gets a visit from the author in December. Help Little Shop win by dressing as a Spooky Spirit and be scared out of your wits by the Sleer and the Indigo Man. The party is geared to children age 9 and older as the little ones might get a bit too scared. For more information, click here.
Brick Store Pub will be hosting their annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 31st which they claim is “the biggest and best halloween costume contest in Decatur” ! They decorate the bar and the staff dresses up so join them for one heck of a good time! Cash prizes and local celebrity status awarded to the best costumes.
Also on Saturday night, Ink & Dagger Tattoo is teaming up with Twain’s Billiards & Tap to bring you “The first dang annual Moonshiner’s Ball Hillbilly Halloween Hootenanny”. The fun begins at 10 PM with live music from “Uncle Daddy and the Kissin Cousins”!!!
On Friday at 7 PM, The Seen Gallery on Church Street will host an opening reception for “Fright and Fantasy” featuring works by artist Mitchell Zwick. You may have seen Mitchell’s work on display at the Decatur Arts Festival Fine Arts Exhibition, where his piece won the People’s Choice Award.
If you are planning to start Saturday evening off with a tasty dinner, hop on over to Wahoo! where children in costume eat free from 4 to 6 pm. Adults in Costume purchase one entree, receive another free all night long (not available with any other offer.)
Have a safe and fun Halloween!
