Several exciting improvements have been made over at the Oakhurst dogpark this week. Dan Magee, the City’s Active Living Director, said that he hopes the changes improve safety and make it a nicer experience for dogs and their owners alike. Much of the kudzu and privet has been removed and turned into mulch for the trails and a new fence has been installed to keep dogs out of the especially muddy areas. I visited the park tonight with my dog Lola, and even though I can never get her to look at the camera, I snapped some shots to show the changes. We had a great time, and really enjoyed the improvements. Thanks to everyone who made it happen!

I will have to get a dog so I can join you. Or maybe I can borrow one!
Lola sure is cute, Lena! The dog park looks great- thanks Decatur!
She is a little cutie isn’t she? I just wish I could get a picture of her face. 🙂
Hey Lena! I’m chester’s dog mommie. I was wondering if I could get that picture from you 🙂 My e-mail address is mneville@erskine.edu. Thanks!
I am not sure if you had anything to do with the recent improvement at the Adair Park doggie area, but those are also welcome.
I personally did not have anything to do with those improvements, but I will pass your message along to the Active Living Department. Glad to hear you are enjoying Adair. Lola and I will have to check that out too!
DAL staff is always open to suggestions and ideas regarding any of the three city dog parks. The Glenlake dog park will re-open in early 2010. The Adair dog park has a great shade canopy and a nice change in elevation for the pooches to run. Oakhurst is always busy and one of the social centers of the city.
