Decatur is becoming a popular place to film movies, Made for TV movies, and TV pilots and this week is no exception. On Friday be on the look-out for filming in the 200 block of E. Ponce de Leon in the gas station at the corner of N. Candler, inside an apartment in the older complex located at that intersection and in front of the Wachovia Bank building. They will be filming a Made for TV movie called Past Life.
On Monday, August 10, Drop Dead Diva will be back. They will film the final episode of season one using street scenes in the 100 block of E. Ponce de Leon and on E. Court Square. They will also be filming inside Zucca and Parker’s on Ponce. You may remember that they filmed the first episode in Decatur and that episode drew 2 1/2 million viewers. They are hoping the final episode will be just as popular and that the series will be picked up for another season.
The good news is that these film companies are making a donation to the Decatur Youth Fund which helps needy Decatur children be able to attend after school and specialty camps. So if by chance you are stopped in traffic for a few minutes, know that they are making a contribution to our community – as well as putting us on the big screen.
My husband just witnessed a seven car accident right over near the 200 block of E Ponce at around 8:30pm (Thursday) – he thinks some people working with the movie shoot were involved with the accident (making a wrong turn/going the wrong way on Ponce). I hope everyone is OK, but he said it looked pretty serious.
I saw that Paula Abdule was back this week on Diva.
Marla — as Decatur Metro was reporting that incident was caused by a vehicle trying to outrun a DeKalb police officer after a traffic stop. The film shoot was scheduled for today (Friday) from about 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Jim,
I don’t think she was here when they filmed in Decatur!
