Are you at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma? Would people describe you as energetic, enthusiastic, and having a passion for working with children? If so, you might be the perfect candidate to work as a counselor in Decatur’s After School Program. The 2:15 – 6:15 p.m. hours leave you time to pursue your college degree while giving you the opportunity to hone your education and experience working with children. And, you can get paid for being a positive role model for children while building your resume at the same time.
Decatur’s After School Program is nationally known and consistently receives accolades and awards. My daughter, who is now a middle school teacher, learned some of her best tricks of the trade under the tutelage of the dedicated staff during her tenure as a part-time counselor years ago. Plus, she had a great time with the kids!
But, you don’t have to be a college student to apply. You might be a retired educator who misses hands-on time with children. Or, you might be someone who likes being with kids and has experience dealing with groups such as girl scouts or soccer or anything related to activities with children. You might even be looking to change careers and want to see what it is like working with children. The possibilities are endless.
I didn’t even mention the advantage of part time employment close to home. If you are interested, check out the job description and requirements on the City of Decatur website to see if you might qualify. But hurry, the program begins August 5.
Awesome site. Keep up the great work!
