As a newcomer to Decatur I have been nearly overwhelmed with all of the incredible food choices in the community. Working from City Hall is both a blessing and a curse as I am tempted to “eat out” nearly every day. From a culinary stand point I have no complaints, but all this food is making my wallet a bit thin so I have had to adjust. These adjustments have led me on a mission to find meals that cost roughly $5. I will be posting on a quasi-regular basis my findings and suggestions.
My first suggestion is the Basic Burrito at Raging Burrito. The basic burrito is a steamed tortilla with choice of beans, rice, jack and cheddar cheese, and salsa fresca. You can also add seasoned potatoes for no extra charge. The cost is 4.95 plus tax. I tend to get an glass of water to stay on budget. As if the burrito wasn’t filling enough, if you go during lunch Monday through Friday you get a free basket of chips which come with salsa on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays and Chili con Queso on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
More to come.
Great post Nathan! I’ll keep an eye out for more tips.
