As a former ballet dancer I could talk your ear off (but I won’t) about how I don’t think ballet companies are in touch with their audiences today. However, I would never apply that criticism to Decatur’s local contemporary dance company Several Dancers Core.
Several Dancers Core understands that not everyone is a dance afficionado and that most people don’t have the time or money to go see a dance performance a couple times a year. So every other month SDC hosts Lunchtime in the Studio. Anyone can come to a Lunchtime session, eat some delicious food donated by local restaurants and get a preview of the company’s current works.
The next Lunchtime in the Studio session is this Friday, Feb. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. Admission is free and lunch is provided by Saba, Brick Store and Starbucks for the first 40 who arrive.
I’ve always wanted to go to this! I’ll try to make the one on the 6th!
You know, this is one of those events that makes me say, “Great idea! I think I’ll attend.” And then I forget, or schedule something else. Thanks to your reminder, I am putting this on my calendar right now.
