Anyone else out there jealous of all those people scooting around the city? Scooting around town seems so chic and European – not to mention eco-friendly. Maybe I’m romanticizing scooters too much, but that doesn’t lessen my desire for one of my own. Lucky for me, Decatur now has two great scooter-riding options.
Twist ‘n Scoot has just opened up on West Ponce across from The Grange and next to Whit’s End. The store offers a wide range of new and used scooters (sporty, cute, high performance, vintage styles etc.). I’ve got my eye on this beauty:

While saving up for my very own Stella, I can rent a scooter from Dads Zip Motor Scooter. The company offers scooter sharing services. Depending on the membership plan you choose, you can rent a scooter for as low as $6 a day. Sign up for a ride and a scooter will be delivered to a designated location (there are a number of locations within the City of Decatur), and helmets and gas are included.
I can’t wait. I’ll be scooting around looking chic and European in no time!
Girlfriend, you’ve got to check out the Mio at Twist n’ Scoot. Much more style for the fuel-efficient mile.

Dee Catur,
You’re right. The Mio is gorgeous and the “ultimate urban scooter.” I like the sound of that.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m with you Catherine – i want a scooter too – in pink though.
A pink scooter would be awesome. Picture a whole fleet of them!
Twist n scoot sells the Genuine brand, and they distribute a model, the Buddy, that may be available in pink. I’ve seen them before, but don’t know for certain that they’re still being manufactured in pink. But the baby blue and the seafoam are very cool colors . . . like early ’60s bathroom tile. And it’s a solid little scooter, too.
For all of y’all considering your first scooter purchase, stick with European, Japanese, and Taiwanese manufacturers. You really don’t want a $900 scooter manufactured in mainland China.
